Some New Year Reflections

As I woke up and took a look at the world around me this morning, things do not look any different than they did yesterday. The only thing that has changed is the month and the year. The world we live in is the same sin-sick world. We still face many of the same problems that we did last year.

I do not know what 2008 will bring. A lot is at stake this year, at least here in America. This election will take us either to the right or to the left. I pray that we go right, but it may very well be that God will give us a far-left president. No matter what happens, God will be with us every step of the way, as He was in 2007.

The absolute best thing that could happen in 2008 is the Lord's return! God has not given us the date, but we have been told to always be watching for Him to come back. And I believe His return could happen at any moment.

Jesus Himself promised, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." (John 14:1-3).

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."
(I Corinthians 15:51-54).

What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see! May the Lord bless you this year, and our paths will again cross either here, there, or in the air!
